Slim Ties – Still the Thing

When you watch movies from the fifties or those pictures of Cary Grant, I am always struck by the slimness of the ties – often combined with surprisingly thicker lapels and not exactly narrow collars. In any case, it is always a dark slim tie that they wear. Here an imperial crown motif is added to the tie – a nice touch.

i enjoying watch old movies and seeing how well men dressed in those days, esp. Sean Connery as the 1st bond or in Hitchcock’s Marnie. Or any of the Hitchcock men… (Cary & Jimmy especially)

Searching for innovative men’s fashions is challenging. Sticking to traditional robes for office wear, as they appear to legislate in Bhutan, may be old-fashioned, but as boring as the dark suit and white shirt of mid level execs. Does it take a major war like WWI to change fashion radically?
