After prepping at Andover, I studied ancient history at the University of Chicago.  My interest in China stems from reading the Romance of the Three Kingdoms (the English translation), one of China’s major historic novels, at age fourteen.  I grew up in Brimfield, Massachusetts, and the Boston area (Somerville, Cambridge, and Arlington), but have lived in Dushanbe, Berlin, Taipei, Hong Kong, Hangzhou, Chengdu and Beijing. In Beijing since May 2005, I have worked as a business consultant, freelance writer, photographer, stylist, and magazine editor.  Well, most of the time – over three years – I was consulting at Kamsky Associates Inc., developing market entry strategies for US corporations and financial groups in the magazine publishing, aviation, packaging, steel, packaging and copyright protection industries.

Since March 2009, I have been Editor-in-Chief of LifeStyle Magazine, China’s leading bilingual publication focusing on architecture, inner space, decor, luxury goods, travel, and other LifeStyle subjects. The magazine is distributed in all of the five-star hotels in the country as well as at golf courses, membership clubs, restaurants, etc. As you can probably can tell from the website, much work needs to be done to transform this into a world-class publication.  I am focusing now on the print side before developing the online presence.
