On the Wild Side

Perhaps not the most fashion-focused guy at the music festivals, he did have the sweetest expression.

Nicy (left) is a model, photographer and stylist. Her friend is Mo Si.
Covered with stickers is the typical winter coat for soldiers in Beijing.
The sleeves of his trench and trousers seem to match in length.
This ranks as a nice comparatively dressy outfit for a fall music festival.
These young ladies keep all their dollars in plastic.
This young lady was waiting for a cab, not buying beer.
Finally, here are some photos from the Modern Sky festival. Suzy and I both visited the remote, but dramatic venue in the shadow of the Great Wall. Were it only a less hazy day, the location would have been spectacular rather than shrouded.

This is not the sort of look one expects for a music festival. Luo Qiang, English name Lucia, works in the arts for this organization.
The year of living wildly continues. Leopard always seems festive, so this is really a perfect look for the Kama Love Music Festival.
Kama Love Festival, held this past weekend at the Olympic Park, was without a doubt the dustiest music festival so far this year. The above couple used the scarf that was the gift at the Uma Wang event to protect themselves from the blowing dust.

Here is my last batch of photos from Intro.
For me, this is retro. It reminds me of the the sort of image one might have seen three years ago on the cover of a report by some hip consultancy on consumption patterns in trends of youth in China. I guess it is the short, dyed hair that does it, plus the slightly inscrutable confidence.
The singer Queen Sea Big Shark, she was just shot by renowned photographer Mario Testino for a profile likely to appear in the September issue of US Vogue. As you may have heard, there was an unprecedentedly huge delegation from that magazine in town last week interviewing, photographing, and generally making a footprint here in China. China is going to be one of the main themes for Vogue’s thickest issue of 2011.

I wouldn’t have quite expected this trend.
Music events like Intro give the fashion crowd the perfect occasion to strut their stuff.
Some people really got down and groovy at Intro.
Both days at Intro Music Festival were very sunny and warm. Everyone was out in their attention-grabbing shades.
Okay, I realize it has taken me nearly two weeks to put up all the photos from Strawberry. This should be the last batch.
Just as solids – especially black – is the norm at fashion parties, polka dots, floral prints and other patterns predominate at music festivals.
