Many people were wearing the latest threads from Burberry. The Vogue EIC Angelica Cheung was wearing the exact same coat that night.

Many items seemed to be from the now available Spring 2011 collection, the theme of which was “heritage biker”. For this collection, designer Christopher Bailey was inspired by biker gear created by Thomas Burberry in the early 1900s. Here is anther well-dressed fellow that I met in 798.  He is standing in front of the legendary “tank” that hosts so many fashion events.

Antonio Bandini is the designer for Ilaria. He used to work under Valentino. His coat is from Prada, though I think he fastened the bow-tie on the lapel. Currently there are no plans for an Ilaria menswear collection though China might be a better place if there were. There isn’t really a local brand for boys that is stylish – but not painfully avant-garde like the work of most young designers – in high-quality fabrics and simple cuts.

Despite the name, the brand Ilaria is based in China and founded by a Chinese woman, though the designer is Mr. Bandini, an Italian. Here are pics of the looks that were on show. “>Here are pics of the looks that were on show. The founder of the brand Ms. Ilaria He formerly lived in Italy.

Visiting from HK, Jimmy is one of the top designers of Izzue, a falgship brand for Hong Kong’s massive I.T. group.  Izzue is expanding rapidly in China, and has outlets in Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia.

Jimmy is know for his often gothic-influenced, edgy, very androgynous designs for both men and women.  London, where he studied fashion, is also a key influence.  We will have a longer interview with Jimmy here next time he comes to Beijing.

I ran into pop artist Gao Yu at the Case da Abitare event the other day.  He designed Absolut’s first-ever China Limited Edition bottle, Absolut 72 Bian, which takes inspiration from the the Monkey King who transforms 72 times in the course of the 16th Century novel Journey to the West.

This past week, Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were in Shanghai for the last party in a world tour to promote a new series of tee-shirts that celebrate 25 years of Naomi Campbell in the modelling business.  Always one of the more internet-conscious fashion brands, Dolce and Gabbana invited stylites to photograph the invent.  Unfortunately, I had obligations in Beijing, so I wasn’t able to make it down.  Stylites contributors Tomasz Sajewicz and Pheobe Wu attended the event on my behalf.
