Sanlitun Village is a favourite location to dress according to new fashion trends or in a more distinctive style without attracting too many glances, but Beijing TV presenter Barbie takes the art of multicolour dressing to new heights.

Questioning the Showiness

Also at the IT event, Aviva is the senior editor of p1.cn
. Originally from Chongqing, she loves to travel and shop vintage – everything she is wearing is from secondhand shops. She commented that many international and foreign brands are prioritizing the Chinese market and “people and brands in Beijing’s fashion circle love to show off, but most in her country remain very poor”. While most in the circle think expensive is better, Aviva likes a more personal approach to style and as well as fashion that those who “are not so rich can also enjoy”.

She seems to be a bit of a leftie. To me, it always seemed a bit inconsistent that fashion types aren’t more on the right.

After Septwolves七匹狼之后

This dandyish individual was quite unimpressed by the Septwolves show. Click here for pictures of all the looks. Several editors I spoke with nearby were also very negative, saying if they were going to copy Western shows, the Fujian-based brand should have at least copied well.

这位设计师是在七匹狼秀之后碰到的。这里有那个秀的图片。

After the Septwolves by Daniel Faret show, she works in sales at Bazaar but one suspects she might have worked formerly as a model or perhaps still be doing part time work. Links to pics from that show to come.

七匹狼的秀后, 她在《时尚芭莎》做销售但我怀疑她也是兼职的模特。

There were some interesting individuals at the Shanghai Tang party, including this gentleman from Mongolia who spoke French, though neither English nor Chinese.

Here are more pictures of the Miao-inspired ‘Metamorphosis’ collection.

It’s nice to have a signature look. Top stylist and entrepreneur Tony Li (Li Dongtian) has clearly opted for capes. Tony, who spent nearly a decade living and studying in the US, has always had an international outlook and is looking forward to opening his first foreign shop soon in Sydney.

He was a VIP at Shanghai Tang’s presentation of its Miao culture-inspired ‘Metamorphosis’ collection (Lifestyle Asia has some pics). Jingdaily has more on the live-broadcasting of the show.

Ritchie just released “Triple-Major World,” the first collection in Triple-Major’s house line, which is inspired by video games, food, grammar and other typically disregarded motifs from everyday life. The collection was just presented at Paris Fashion Week for AW 2011 in Rendez-Vous Showroom.

Ritchie的首个时装系列“Triple-Major World”刚刚在巴黎时装周展示了。他说:“系列从传统电脑游戏,食物,标点符号等往往被忽略的生活小细节中取得创作灵感。”

Visiting from HK, Jimmy is one of the top designers of Izzue, a falgship brand for Hong Kong’s massive I.T. group. Izzue is expanding rapidly in China, and has outlets in Thailand, Malaysia, Macau, Taiwan, and Saudi Arabia.

Jimmy is know for his often gothic-influenced, edgy, very androgynous designs for both men and women. London, where he studied fashion, is also a key influence. We will have a longer interview with Jimmy here next time he comes to Beijing.
